Studies and Sermons for Lent
Lent is an opportunity for spiritual renewal. We come before God and reflect on the things in us which draw us away from God. Lent provides us time set aside to pray, fast and refresh our journey with Christ.
Good Shepherd, COAH, Resurrection and Ascension have come together in unity to present a Lenten theme to challenge us - "Falling in Love with the God Jesus Reveals" We will be studying the "The Good and Beautiful God" by James Bryan Smith. From the book description:
"Smith declares, the most important thing about a person is what they think about God. The path to spiritual transformation begins here. Turning to the Gospels, Smith invites you to put your ideas to the test to see if they match up with what Jesus himself reveals about God. Once you've discovered the truth in Scripture, Smith leads you through a process of spiritual formation that includes specific activities aimed at making these new narratives real in your body and soul as well as your mind."
In addition to our small group studies of this book, all four churches will be using the book as inspiration for our sermons. Good Shepherd, Resurrection, and Ascension will also have mid-week services starting at 7 pm which will cover the book.
Below you will find a list of times and addresses where you will find a book study for the season of Lent. Please consider which one fits your schedule and attend that study for the season of Lent. You do not have to sign up for the class. Just show up!
