The core message of Proverbs: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”
Fear of the Lord means reverence and awe, not terror.
Americans often treat Jesus like a president to be voted on, rather than a king to be obeyed.
Proverbs personifies wisdom as a woman, contrasting wise and foolish paths.
God is a God of order, not chaos, as shown in both creation and orderly worship.
Wisdom (hakma) is more like artistic skill than legalistic rule-following.
Like jazz and Picasso, true wisdom requires mastering the rules before creatively navigating life’s complexity.
